About

Working with people and businesses to support mental health

Who we are

The Mental Health Toolkit provides practical mental health training courses for organisations and individuals across the UK and worldwide.

We’ve been delivering workshops and courses since 2010, and have a wealth of experience and insights to share with you and your team.

As part of Suffolk Mind, an established independent mental health charity, we are experts in delivering high-quality, consistent and safe workplace wellbeing training. Our expertly-designed courses and workshops are delivered by experienced, qualified and professional staff.

All profits from our workplace wellbeing training are invested back into the mental health services we offer, supporting thousands of people every year.

We are the experts in mental health.

We reinvest back into our services.

We work with you to get the best outcome.

How we work with you

We discuss your needs as an organisation or as an individual, to ensure you get the training that suits you and your team.

We will support your vision for improving mental wellbeing within your workplace, as well as supporting your Continuing Professional Development (CPD). We understand the need for your business to be emotionally healthy, with staff ready to rise to and overcome the challenges that life presents.

What do we offer that’s different?

The Mental Health Toolkit doesn’t offer Mental Health First Aid, but we do offer expertly designed and delivered training. Our trainers are psychotherapists, all with a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise.

If you have already invested in Mental Health First Aid then we can support your teams even further through our training.

By constantly monitoring the quality of what we do, we ensure our courses are effective and practical. From Introduction to The Mental Health Toolkit, our taster session, all the way up to The Comprehensive Toolkit – our most in-depth training, our innovative approach will help you achieve better mental wellbeing and improved emotional resilience.

Intro sessions

We offer introduction sessions, aimed at audiences of all sizes, offering a brief overview of the Mental Health Continuum, Emotional Needs and Resources and some practical steps to look after your wellbeing.

Workshops

Our workshops, all half a day or less, provide excellent insight into the Emotional Needs and Resources. The Essentials covers the basics, with attendees regularly experiencing ‘lightbulb moments’. We also cover more specific topics such as sleep or stress. Our workshops are ideal for everyone in your organisation, enabling your workplace to all have the same knowledge and language around mental health.

Courses

Our courses go into more detail and practical training to support people’s mental health. We want to equip your managers or team leaders to confidently support their teams and customers.

Supporting Mental Health covers our approach, effective communication skills, how to support someone experiencing challenges and ways to protect themselves while supporting someone else. The Comprehensive Toolkit is our most in-depth course covering topics such as self-harm, suicide, addictions, and effective communication.

Culture Change

If you want to embed a healthy workplace culture, or improve something that already works, we can support you and your team. We use our Emotional Needs Audit to ask teams how they are meeting their needs, what is supporting them what barriers they’re facing. We then use these insights to work with leadership teams to discuss and implement actions to affect culture change.

Why invest in workplace wellbeing?

Did you know that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health challenge of some kind each year in England [1]?

According to research published in The Lancet in 2017 [2], a 4-hour manager mental health training programme could lead to a “significant reduction in work-related sickness absence, with an associated return on investment of £9.98 for each pound spent on such training”.

To add to that, Deloitte’s 2024 report [3] on mental health and employers shows that “by investing in improving the mental health of their workforce, employers can obtain a return (on average) of £4.70 for every £1 spent.”

The Mental Health Toolkit is here to make your investment in workplace wellbeing worthwhile, by equipping your team with the skills to support mental health and to help create real cultural change within your organisation.
